Cooling measures may be undertaken to reduce the risk of ischaemia in such circumstances, but only after death has been legally pronounced. CryoPath<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-0-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\">\n\n<p>NOTE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CryoPath can only proceed with its process if the patient&#8217;s financial status is fully paid up. 3 days&#8217; notice is desirable, to allow time for the equipment and supplies to reach the patient&#8217;s bedside in a remote location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PROCEDURE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Receives notification of patient&#8217;s terminal condition and location from patient&#8217;s representative.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contacts nominated cryonic storage facility to advise of patient&#8217;s imminent arrival and to check his\/her financial status.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engages standby personnel and consults medical perfusionist to determine the preferred treatment option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Notifies central funeral director and ensures that equipment, chemicals and supplies are ready for use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If perfusion is viable, provides specific equipment that will be needed by perfusionist during stabilisation of deceased patient at the bedside, with preferred notice of 3 days to allow for delivery to a remote location.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #ffffff; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>2. Funeral director, local<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-1-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\">\n\n<p>NOTE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color\">If the patient is located in Sydney, these local responsibilities may be undertaken by the central funeral director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PROCEDURE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Liaises with hospital staff so that delays will be minimised.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obtains death certificate from doctor when patient dies. Note that other than moving the patient to the hospital cool room, cooling processes should not be commenced until the death certificate is obtained.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #ffffff; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>3. Medical perfusionist<\/strong><\/p>\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-toggle-wrap right\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><span class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-state-indicator wp-block-ub-chevron-down\"><\/span><\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t<div role=\"region\" aria-expanded=\"false\" class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-content-wrap ub-hide\" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-2-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\">\n\n<p>NOTE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The medical perfusionist is engaged only if perfusion is viable. For a straight freeze, stabilisation responsibilities are undertaken by the local funeral director. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PROCEDURE<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attends patient&#8217;s bedside during final hours if sufficient notice is given.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commences cooling, cardio-pulmonary support and anticoagulant medication, and continues while transporting patient to funeral director&#8217;s premises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stabilises patient above water-ice temperature. (The patient is not frozen yet.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performs perfusion with cryoprotectant chemicals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Packs patient with dry ice in insulated container. (The patient is now stable for 1 to 2 weeks before further cooling must begin. This allows for transportation, as shown below.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion\" style=\"border-color: #ffffff; \" id=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-block-\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title-wrap\" style=\"background-color: #ffffff;\" aria-controls=\"ub-content-toggle-panel-3-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"wp-block-ub-content-toggle-accordion-title ub-content-toggle-title-e4ebe257-3843-49e8-b670-b27761be0836\" style=\"color: #000000; \"><strong>4.
